Mini Mission Work

Followed the Chinese elders. (27, August, 2014, Wednesday)

Hello guys! How are you? So today I wanted to share with you guys about my experience when I came with the Chinese elders in Sibu. So, actually we had plan that we will visited brother Kong on August, 20 but he was really sick. So, we cancel the appointment and we were visited him after a week then. We set up the appointment at 1 o’clock. I’m called Elder Sutherland and Christensen to get my bike then we meet at Sugar Bun and I got my bike there. I’m try to get Sibu Bus Station (SBS) like 15 minutes but can’t because of town is very far from my place. I’m arrived in SBS like 25 minutes after riding very fast. OMG! I’m looking for elder Baer and south but their come late than me. I thought that I’m late but not. Woow. So, I’m waiting for them like 10 minutes after 2 in the evening. We got the bus to go to Sukun street. First time I’m used bus went to Sukun. We arrived in Sukun like 15 minutes and we get brother kong house. Elder Baer knocked the gate with his keys (actually I never see the elders knocked member house with their keys, the other elders will get them by call or something but this is good way to let the member open the gate right? ) Elder Baer is silly one. Sister Jolin opened the door and said “Just open the gate because that isn’t lock” and we came to their house. Brother Kong and Sister Jolin are very kind. They prepared some food and some orange syrup (actually that syrup too sweet and sour, I don’t really like too sweet syrup but I can enjoyed it). Elder Baer and I talk with sister Jolin about her book of remembrance (The file that elders gave us after we’d baptize) we just see how far sister Jolin was filled her BR. We just help what should her filled (that’s because sister Jolin had took the English BR, but she good in English). Besides that, elder South teaches Brother kong about his talk (I don’t really know what are they talked about but maybe about faith???). We were ending our lesson about 1 hour. Sister Jolin & Brother kong gave us some red apple’s. Aww we very appreciated that ^^. Brother Kong sent us to SBS with car.

After that we went to Jiang’s family. They are potential investigator I guess. The old women let us come to their house. We talked about Prayer. The old man who lived in the same house and he smoked behind us. OMGooess! We can’t breathe! That so annoyed actually. We just stay like an hour. At the time that we left their house, rain so hard! I love rain when I followed the elders. The way we go to elder Christensen and Sutherland house the Hilux (big car) across the street and I got really really wet. Noooooooooo!! But I like it haha. So, after we meet with elder Christensen and Sutherland. We were split. Elder Sutherland and Elder South work together to find the potential investigator and elder Christensen, Baer and I went to the Chinese investigator house. He’s very kind person. He let us come to his house and sat in the sofa even though I and elder Baer wet. He say “That’s okay, sofa will dry by air-con later.”. We were talked about Church, Prayer and introduced ourselves. We were there about 1 hours. So we try to get elder Sutherland and South and we got called from them that we should go to sister Acui house and waiting for them. I’m shiver because of so cold temperature “RAINING & CLOUDY” (7 o’clock). Elder Baer asked me “Are you cold” then I say “Yes, very cold today right?” then Elder Baer ask me to clap my hand or doing something make it warm but my hands still cold. OMG! We teach Winnie about tithing and fast offering even though she not really knows what tithing is. Elder Sutherland and Christensen left like 8.15 but we still stay and teach Winnie about tithing and what we get from Heavenly Father if we done with these things. I saw elder Baer humor. He gave sister Winnie too many sweet for example of tithing (too many sweet like 100’s fruit sweet. Oh My Goodnesssss! Hahaha) so silly kan? Elder Baer asked me to share my testimony about tithing. Finally we had done at 9. Sister Winnie asked me to close prayer. Actually I not really good pray in Chinese. So, I just try my best. I’m used Chinese for the beginning prayer but my mind was confused and don’t know how to say it anymore then I change to English but the same things also happened after a minute and I change to Malay (I don’t know why I can forget the all thing I want to say or maybe I used too many languages in a prayer. My mind was stuck to thing about Malay) so I change it to Iban (my native language. haha) and the end of prayer I change it back to Chinese. See that was bad I did. OMGhandi! So the way we get home we were in Ramlee Burger (that is favorite place of elders to get burger. That’s cheaper, nice and tasty). So I went to elder Sutherland and Christensen house to put my bike there. My parents picked up me there. I think that is the best experience I can shared with you guys. When I followed the Chinese elders it was totally different because of language, area and how to communicate in Chinese with the Chinese investigators and members.

I can felt so spiritual, love and be more understanding about missionary works. I hope this experience can help me someday. Thanks elder Baer and South! Both of you such an example for me! Here I got some picture of us. Oh yeah! I’ve this video on youtube “Mini mission work by Lawren Empaling”.
